    I have an afro.

Yes, I do think it’s jealousy and racism. The media could have ignored such ridiculous statements, had they chosen to do so. I think it’s to detract from her phenomenal skills, and record breaking. They did the same thing to Venus, after she won her last bout. Published ridiculous accusations of her doing gang dances when she did the crip walk, yet they’d never report on how many whites are doing the crip walk right here on YouTube. The woman broke all records.

I suppose examples of racism are those people who keep questioning whether Obama was born in the US or not. Or like that rep who said “you lie” when Obama was giving his State of the Union. I never saw disrespect like that for a President before.

  4. mcbloomin says:

    WRONG! :D

  5. philaconsulting says:

All you need is an Afro pick comb. Once you pick it out it’ll stay that way all day.

  6. MultiLuner says:

Haha why even represent a country who doesn’t represent you. If I was her I would move to another country and betray the united states by winning gold haha. Come to Canada I don’t know anybody that’s still races were all family up here.

People needs to grow up and realize we all human. that’s all. Consciousness experiencing a human life.

So if i make a racist comment about you wouldn’t you be emotional? Not everybody is coldhearted and a prick like you. But hey, I might be wrong.. This comment could have come out the wrong way. So I will let you decide. And believe me I will know what kind of person you are by the way you respond back to me.

    why you say so?

  10. callmerasta876 says:

If you look at the other girls on her team, they all wear thier hair exactly the same. She couldn’t have a curly Afro or cornrows. They are required to wear thier hair exactly the way she had it.Respect!

  11. callmerasta876 says:

wonder who actually made the comment about her hair. Was it a celebrity? Someone in the news media? My point is, why did we,(the public),and Gabby have to hear what they thought about her hair? Gabby is a child who has apparently worked very hard to be the BEST ever.Who would try to take part of that from her by making disrespectful comments about her appearance? From the people who reported it,up the chain to who said it: SHAME ON YOU ALL!!!! I’m a white man and I know this is wrong.

  12. christinahester87 says:

I know not all white ppl r bad n so does gabby. she is 2 intelligent to let this bother her. our hair is different n that will never change so new subject please

Take it down a thousand girl, constructive criticism can improve your image and your life. I saw Gabby Douglas new interview last night, her hair is all good now. She’s a diamond. I’m so proud of her representing America and bringing home the gold. By the way freshly braided cornrows or a cute little curly Afro would have enhanced her beautiful smile and good looks. Learn to accept constructive viewpoints.

Gabby douglas has inspired me. Even if i don’t do gymnastics. She taught me that no matter what your race is. You can do anything as long as you love doing it. Whenever i see her commercial i cry out of joy. She is a wonderful person who gets hate that she doesn’t deserve. Even if Gabby will not see this. I love gabby and god bless her. She made history and she is very talented. I really don’t get why people dislike her

Please stop Please your comment has no foundation what so ever its not about hair its about commitment to ones country and self. The determination to push ones body to the limit for sport. Your focused on hair. Seriously

  16. neofabulosity says:

Maybe she doesn’t like afros and locks . Afros are harder to take care of then a straight do. People are rediculous!

  17. neofabulosity says:

She is beautiful PERIOD!. They all HAD to wear ponutails because they are ALL gymnists dumb dumb!

  18. philaconsulting says:

I agree with this guy. Just grow a Afro like the old days. Represent your culture. Your not white so stop getting caught up in the vision of european beauty .Afro’s and locks are beautiful. Be who you are not who someone else says you should be. You keep trying to and you will never be happy with yourself

  19. searching4quiet says:

LOL…ok….thanks again for your response to my post :)

  20. PlacentaPudding says:

Thank you for bringing up racists and immediately tying it to white people that think they’re better than black people.

That’s the only kind… in your mind.

  21. calebmallen says:

@theslabbxxx Exactly! She’s competing for a gymnastics world title, not a Pantene Pro-V commercial. Btw, I’m white, and I don’t see what the big deal is about her hair. It was pulled back and gelled down, just like it should be in a gymnastics competition. Does anyone see what these girls are doing? Would you want your hair flipping around, slapping you in the face?!?

  23. calebmallen says:

Gabby, come on over to the “white side”! Your fans over here love you just for being a 2x Olympic Gold Champion; we really don’t care what your hair looks like. As for the NBC promo with the gymnastic monkey; if you saw that little Capuchin monkey and the first thing that came to your mind was Gabby… Adolf Hitler thought blacks were animals too… sooooo, go chew on that one for a minute.

  24. theslabbxxx says:

As far as white supremacy in Amerikkka. If given an equal chance, black people can and will supersede all. We used to rule this world. Its true. It was our own selfishness that destroyed us. One day we will return to glory. One day !!!

  25. theslabbxxx says:

Really???? We are talking about a 16 year old child. Not Americas next top model for christ sake. What about her amazing talent and god given gifts? A distraction? Please grow up. Read a book. Get educated. Your GED mentality is not appreciated or acceptable.
